Pre-Student Teaching Action Plan
Name: Kathleen McAuley

The main concerns identified by my predecessors included:

The Unit Plan assignment was the main assignment that was identified as important. Other assignments that were seen as important and relevant to student teaching are the observe and reflect journals. There are a variety of other useful pieces of information including knowing the fire drill plan, creating a grading system beforehand, and even getting to know the routines and policies of other teachers.

My main concerns about student teaching at this point are:

Covering the content in the given time. I am confident in my classroom management abilities, especially with the classes I am student teaching in. The general demeanor of the classes are fairly easy going, and I am viewed as an authority figure in the classes. I am still nervous how the students will view me once the CT is seen as "out of the picture" but I am less worried since the classes are 9th graders.

My Main Concerns about Student Teaching
Some strategies that I am going to try in order to prepare for Student Teaching:
Classroom management
Use my CT for advice, always follow through with threats
Being prepared
Always over prepare, have other options in case technology fails
Time management
Create lessons that are flexible to account for stuff going wrong or cutting things out

I am still concerned about... (and I'm not really sure what to do about this.)

Disciplining students
I have witnessed students acting out wildly inappropriately in class, and my CT always acts as she sees fit. I would like to know how as student teachers we are able to discipline the students or if we are supposed to at all. This is something I would like to address before beginning student teaching.
